One of the key benefits of oral chemotherapy is the advantage it can offer from a quality of life perspective. Although every individual's experience will be slightly different, there are distinct benefits to this form of treatment and this is clearly supported by clinical studies, which indicate that eight out of ten patients prefer the oral formulation to intravenous (i.v.) chemotherapy.

In this section, we set out to examine why oral chemotherapy is the preferred form of treatment for patients. Dr Markus Borner provides an overview of the challenges for patients taking i.v.-based treatments compared with oral-based treatments.
